But for many 2012 is a year of portents, prophesy and doom. The Mayan Calendar for example does not record time beyond this year (some say it stopped in November or December last year) and for others 2012 brings the apocalyptic end of mankind.

But is there really such a thing as time even though we talk about it, put clocks up on the wall and for all intents and purposes act completely as though it exists? Particularly the ancient philosophers of India say "no" and even science is now talking about how time might be a construct of the mind.

And even if there is such a thing as time, does it really matter if the end of the world comes soon? We already know that this planet has self-destructed several times and that everything that lives, eventually dies. Does it really matter if man is wiped out - or wipes himself out? Are we really so important?

Regardless of what you think about these questions and how you choose to answer them, life still needs to be lived in the immediate moment. We can do something here and now about the quality of our existence and make the best of what we have, whatever is or isn't going to happen.

A Journey process takes you into the core of your emotions and beyond the personality complex where the root of your problems lies. Here there is no time and we identify neither with our issues nor our ego but the Source from which we come.

In Source anything is possible and there are no limitations, whatever the date or year and whether you are young and old. Let's make 2012 the year where we drop the calendar and our fears about the future and dive into our shining potential instead ...

Disclaimer texts

Copy & paste these statements into your own documents:

For your client to sign before a Journey process:

1) I understand that any opinion expressed by my Journey therapist is purely their own and neither represents nor substitutes that of any medical authority, Journey Therapists UK or The Journey.

2) I understand that it is recommended that I read the Journey Therapists UK website and the book named The Journey written by Brandon Bays before my Journey process.

3) I understand that I am responsible for my own expectations and that my Journey therapist is in no way guaranteeing the outcome of my Journey process.

4) I understand that I am not entitled to a refund for my Journey process at any stage and regardless of the outcome of my Journey process.

5) I have read and understood the foregoing statements, and am competent to execute this agreement.

For your email footer:
This message contains confidential information and is intended only for the individual named. I continue to be amazed at the healing and insight it provides. I've worked with a huge range of clients including those with cancer, MS, ME, survivors of sexual abuse and rape; those stuck in the pain of bereavement, depression, low self esteem and anger. I don't believe there's any issue (emotional or physical) that Journeywork cannot help to heal.

Testimonials:

"Thank you for your help, support and kindness. I felt so nurtured, safe and cared for and that's what I have wanted in my life for so very long" (Tina B, Oxfordshire).

"I first got in touch with Nicki when I had some unfinished grief work for my late father and brother. Upon calling Nicki she made me feel comfortable and at ease. I had never been allowed to cry freely and grieve in my own way and I wanted to have a safe place to cry knowing if I get stuck, I have someone I trust who has the tools to help me pull through. Nicki was like a trusted, strong friend who sat beside me and went through my grief journey until I came through lighter and freer. I have since done more Journeywork with Nicki and appreciate the freedome she gives me to adapt the process so that it is MY journey" (Sarah, Oxfordshire).

Neutrinos ...

The recent OPERA experiment suggests that neutrinos (pictured right) travel faster than the speed of light. If this discovery turns out to be verifiable, much of the science based on the work of Einstein will be turned upside down. Our notions of time will certainly change and with them our notion of individual agency and approach to physical matter including health, the body and disease.

As early as the 1980s it was discovered that major diseases such as cancer were caused by viruses and bacteria and in the 1990s, quantum physics started to show that matter is an expression of "nothingness". That is people, places and things - even thoughts and ideas - are empty and not truly real.

Recent advances have begun to show that an instruction is received in the brain a few seconds before actions we do or thoughts we think. This means that what we do and think is not our own. We might think we do something but actually something does us prior to all action and thinking.

These discoveries have already invalidated much of mainstream and alternative medical therapies alike. Some suggest they even eradicate the possibility of free will and choice.

Research at the CERN lab in Italy concerning the neutrino will also be very important. The results so far potentially suggest there is no link between cause and result and that time does not necessarily always process from past to present to future. The possibility of alternative dimensions and even time travel arises.

Further if cause is not linked to result, this will lead us to question our fundamental notions of personhood. What actually happens when we do something, if cause does not lead to result? Is healing still possible or was it simply something different from what we always thought?

The good news is that using the Journey process we can access a space beyond time, agency and the person which is before the formation of disease, emotional and psycho-spiritual issues. This does not require a PhD in atomic physics, a great understanding of the universe or even of illness, the body, or psychology. The genuine wish to heal our issues and a naked vulnerability to simply what is there during the Journey process is all that is required. It is of a black hole.

The latest research from quantum physics and relativity theory confirms that everything around us is a holographic image. All the world that we experience, feel and take part in is empty and occurs without a driver. This is a spontaneous, ever-new reality.

When we use the Journey process we start from the understanding that what is, can change. Even the worst problem - physical, emotional or mental - can transform. If all the world is nothing but emptiness, there is nothing that is permanent or that we have to suffer from forever.

String theory, black holes and the theories of Hawking and Susskind take us well beyond our limits. We tend to think there is only so much we can do, be or achieve. Here are some of the comments participants sent afterwards:

... a wonderful peaceful venue for the event.

... I really enjoyed the whole experience ... What was amazing for me was the opportunity to meet and work with someone who shares an analytical mind, yet has complete confidence in this process ...

It was indeed amazing, reigniting my belief in the immense powers of the Journey and the incredible feelings that it brings about.

If you too are inspired to do more Journeywork and would like to swap a process with another Journey Grad, I am offering the next Journey Graduate meeting from 1.30pm until around 6.30/7pm on Saturday 19 February, near Newmarket, Suffolk, in the comfort of a small group.

At the meeting, there will be the opportunity to share experiences, meditate and swap a Physical Journey process with another Journey Graduate, facilitated by an experienced Accredited Journey Practitioner.

For more details and to book a place, you can contact me at marodolakis@gmail.com or give me a call on 01638 508880.

Change your DNA

Contrary to what was always thought, DNA is not a static code written in stone but is constantly changing and evolving. Our experiences and thoughts change our DNA. Our DNA mutates and shapes and changes us.

What if you could change your DNA? You can. By doing a Journey process you can remove stuck patterns by integrating trapped emotions and your DNA will shift into a new, healthier pattern.

What is a Journey process? It's basically a therapeutic technique where you go to the place in yourself where memories can be changed. This place is accessed through your emotions and your Journey therapist will guide you there. Previously suppressed emotions are felt and reintegrated, releasing the events they were attached to. You are then freed from the past and a new, more powerful and balanced, present reality takes form.

Interested? Originally a devotee of Gurumayi and inspired by the Indian advaitic teacher Papaji, she combined the self-enquiry technique taught by Ramana Maharshi with Neuro-linguistic Programming learnt while a trainer in the USA for Tony Robbins. She developed this technique during the time she was seriously ill with an ovarian tumour. You can read about her healing journey in her book, The Journey.

Doing it on yourself

Full healing entails being able to heal yourself of your own issues, independently of a therapist.

Drop-through
You can easily do the drop through on yourself, anywhere, when you have a problem. Simply find a quiet place to sit alone or go to the bathroom for a couple of minutes, if you are in a public space. Close your eyes and identify where the feeling is in your body. Ask yourself what is in the core of this feeling and keep going with these 2 questions until you feel better/fall into Source:

Where is this feeling strongest in my body?
What is in the core of this feeling?

How do I learn to do Journeywork myself?
There are several ways. You can ask your Journey therapist to advise you how to deal with powerful or difficult emotions on a daily basis. There are CDs available with Journey processes recorded on them for you to follow. You can attend regional Introductory Talks and taster events with Journey East to learn more about Journeywork. You can also contact The Journey and attend a Journey Intensive weekend, where you will learn how to do a Journey process for yourself and swap a Journey process with someone else. The average fee in the East of England for an adult Journey process is currently between £90 and £165. You should consult with your Journey therapist in the case of fees for a one-on-one Journey process for a child or teenager but this normally lies in the region of £50-100.

A Journey process costs more than most other healing modalities. It is usually between 2 and 3 hours which for example, at £150 a session, works out at around £50 an hour. Many alternative therapies charge in the region of this hourly rate. Having a Journey process also involves a significant amount of follow-ups and after-care. Journeywork in most cases is usually highly effective and most issues only take a few sessions to resolve. Occasionally serious issues are completely healed in one session. The fee charged for a Journey process is therefore a reflection of its value and the quality of healing it can offer.

Before & after

Before your first session, it is a very good idea to read Brandon Bays' book, The Journey.

On the day of your Journey process, it is advisable to avoid sugar, coffee and alcohol. Otherwise, these may contribute towards the suppression rather than the release of emotion. Always consult your Journey therapist beforehand for specific advice.

After a Journey process, it is important to take plenty of rest and water. Especially if this is a first session, it might be best to book your session on a day when you don't have to work. You may feel tired afterwards, needing a short rest or a little sleep. You are also likely to feel more hungry and thirsty than usual for at least a day or so. In the following days:

Take good care of yourself, including eating lots of fresh foods, drinking lots of water and perhaps meditating or embarking on a detoxifying cleanse.

Try not to engage in too much talk or "re-hashing" of the issue/memory you explored in your process. This allows the healing effect to fully integrate into your body and for you to immediately start operating from the "new" (rather than the "old") you.

Other issues may start to pop up in the next few weeks and months. They too would like to be healed!

Common questions

Feel free to ask your Journey therapist anything you want to know. The most common questions include:

Will a Journey therapist contact my GP?
No, not unless you request it and you should always check this first with your Journey therapist.

I have special needs. Will they be taken into consideration?
Yes, if you have made full mention of those needs to your Journey therapist before your session.

English is not my native language. Is this a problem?
No. You can do a Journey process in any language and it is best to do it in your native tongue. Also, your Journey therapist does not have to be fully fluent in your native language for your process to be successful. Simply mention this to your Journey therapist when you book an appointment.

Is doing a Journey process hard?
No, quite the opposite! It is very easy and simple. You just close your eyes and follow what the Journey therapist tells you to do. You can also stop and ask your Journey therapist anything you want during the process.

I don't want to feel my emotions. Should I have a Journey process?
No, another healing modality may suit you better. A Journey process and its success hinges on your willingness to feel your emotions and discover what they really are, through the experience of them in your body.

Can I take someone with me into the session? No but they are welcome to wait for you outside the room. Generally, you will have a Journey process alone with your Journey therapist. This will be the case even with young children. You should consult your Journey therapist if you have concerns here.

Is Journey work professionally recognised?
No, not currently. However there is a wealth of scientific research to support it, some of which you can read about on this website. Also many healing modalities that are not professionally recognised do work and Journeywork has already helped many, many people to resolve their issues.

Is the Journey process part of any religion?
No, none whatsoever. The focus of a Journey process is going beyond the limitations of the ego and its fixations, whatever your religion (or not).

How often?

This is entirely up to you. The Journey process is one of the most powerful healing tools available today and many clients experience release from their issue quickly or even sometimes in one session. Most accurately however, we can say that your Journey process works in the way it needs to, at the time. It functions to bring up what you presently most need to deal with. This will usually be the issue you have brought to your Journey process or something bearing directly on that issue. Of course your Journey process also depends on you. You need to give the drop-through, campfire and forgiveness your best shot. Then you can trust that whatever happens is right and enough for that particular session.

For everyone? No. No healing technique works for everybody. Most commonly someone needs a combination of therapeutic approaches in order to heal themselves of any issue. You are likely to focus on different healing modalities, ranging from those orthodox to alternative, at different times in your life too. However, if you feel drawn to Journeywork and what you read and hear about it resonates with you, it is likely the Journey process will work for you. Additionally, if you fully open yourself during the Journey process and really want to be free of your issue, it is again, highly likely that your issue will be resolved.

Scientific research

The Journey process is a practical, therapeutic expression of the latest, ground-breaking advances in the study of emotions and DNA. Scientific research shows that when we suppress our emotions, our DNA mutates and is likely to become the basis of future disease. This means that how we handle our emotions is likely to dictate our physical and emotional well-being. A Journey process can release and integrate suppressed emotions, helping to avoid DNA mutation and create the basis of future health.

Our emotions shape our health
Dr Candace Pert who received her PhD from John Hopkins University School of Medicine in pharmacology and worked as Research Professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington DC has established that instead of being confined to the brain, the mind is a "flow of information" moving between all cells, organs and systems of the body. This means that the classical model where the mind and body are two different things is being replaced with a new scientific model, where the body is the mind. Within this new model, a class of tiny proteins called neuropeptides are responsible for our emotions. These pervade the body and are particularly found throughout the nervous system where they regulate our mood, behaviour and our health. Further, neuropeptides function as one, body-wide system where emotions take on the role of communicating throughout. This research therefore cancels out the previous belief that the mind controls the body. It is now known that our emotions influence the body-mind where all parts of the body-mind are in communication with each other.

Our DNA responds to our emotions
Because our emotions influence the body-mind, if they are suppressed or expressed in an extreme manner, our bodies are negatively affected. When we swallow down our emotions and refuse to feel them or by contrast lose control and let them take us over, the DNA sequence on our genes changes, causing what we call a "mutation." Mutation causes the genes to become defective which then causes physical and emotional disease.

American geneticist Barbara McClintock has found that "shocks" to genetic material such as strong negative emotions and environmental stresses, force the human genome to restructure itself. In late 2004, the National Academy of Sciences stated that major life stresses damage DNA sections to the extent that the DNA changes shape and ceases to work effectively.

Most interestingly, in scientific tests conducted on 28 samples of human placenta DNA by the Institute of Heart Math in California USA, emotions were conclusively shown to alter DNA both positively and negatively. 28 researchers were trained to produce strong emotions in themselves on demand. When the researchers evoked strong positive emotions of love, appreciation and gratitude, the sample DNA unwound and increased in length. When the researchers evoked strong negative emotions however, the sample DNA became shorter and terminated many of the DNA codes.

Change your emotions, change your health
Because emotions condition our DNA, when we change our emotions, we change our DNA. Dr Kazuo Murakami who decoded the human renin gene in 1983, states that our DNA perpetually changes and its structure is not set in stone as was previously thought. He specifically concludes that we can change our DNA by changing our emotions. For example, in the Institute of Heart Math tests mentioned above, it was also found that the DNA codes terminated by strong negative emotions were reactivated and their termination reversed, when the researchers switched back to evoking strong positive emotions. Meanwhile Dr Bruce Lipton, former medical school professor of the University of Wisconsin and research scientist at the Stanford University School of Medicine speaks of the "new biology" which shows that the classical genetic theory of fixed DNA is incorrect. He states that DNA adapts and can be changed and upgraded by choice.

This is where the Journey process comes in. By having a Journey process we can integrate suppressed emotions so that we change our DNA and our body-mind, and re-shape both more healthily.

Teens (13-18 years)

Teens have their own particular sets of issues and deep emotions which they need to explore for themselves. A teenager can go for a one-on-one Journey process with a preferred Journey therapist or attend a Teen Journey workshop with Paradise Kids.

In both cases, a Teen Journey process usually takes between 20 minutes and 1 hour, though it can take anything between the length of a Journey process with a child and that with an adult. In both cases, a child's Journey process usually takes between 20 and 40 minutes and is specially adapted for their age with the use of artwork, balloons, story-telling and play. Much time and attention is focused on making your child feel as comfortable and as safe as possible. Methods are always selected for a best fit with your child's personality and temperament. Eliciting a memory, the campfire and reprogramming the memory which occur during the adult Journey process all feature.

The child is also not required to tell its parent about their Journey process unless they wish to. Your issue is unique and personal to you.

Your Journey therapist will listen carefully to what you tell them and then design your Journey process around your specific circumstance.

The length of a Journey process varies according to the client and the Journey therapist. On average, it takes between 90 and 150 minutes and a first session takes around 3 hours.

The session begins with meeting your Journey therapist, relaxing and talking about your issue before you begin. There will be ample time to ask questions and get prepared for the Journey process itself. You close then your eyes. The Journey therapist slowly guides you through a unique set of therapeutic instructions:

Drop-through
This involves integrating suppressed emotion. You will be asked to check in with your body and name the emotion you are experiencing in relation to your issue. Then you will investigate what is in the core of that emotion and continue down through the emotions that continue to appear until you move into a new, very positive place which Journey therapists call Source.

Eliciting a memory
This involves returning to an event in the past where you had a certain experience which lies at the root of your present issue. Your Journey therapist helps you to locate it via numerous special techniques.

Campfire
This involves speaking from the place in your body where you feel any emotion, to the people most concerned both with your issue and the memory you have elicited. You then forgive the people concerned including yourself.

Reprogramming the memory
This involves breathing in specific qualities and named resources, if you had possessed them, which would have helped you at the time of the memory you elicited earlier. This enables you to effectively re-write the memory of what happened to you in the past, such that your experience and the way you react to it in the present, changes.

Future pace
This involves directly experiencing the feeling of the new, integrated "you" at key points in time, in the future. This enables you to concretise the healing effects of the Journey process and start creating a new future now.

Benefits

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; has many benefits including:

** ability to use this powerful healing tool yourself for dealing with your issues which means you can take control of your own life and emotions independently, without becoming reliant on your Journey therapist

** an improvement or tangible change in a physical or emotional issue

** previous, maybe traumatic, life events no longer causing you difficulty and perhaps the total release of your issue in just one or a few sessions

** a transformation and deepening of significant relationships with loved ones and in general, with the people around you on a daily basis

** a quick recovery-time due to diving into the core of emotions rather than spending them: you are not likely to feel weighed down or exhausted for days as sometimes occurs within other healing modalities when dealing with powerful emotions

** increased energy, confidence and relaxation

** a landmark experience of what Journey therapists call "Source" - an original, core state beyond emotion which can be very tranquil and blissful, even spiritual

** increased ability to deal with strong emotions arising in any situation

Why it is unique

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; is unique for 4 main reasons:

1) It places emphasis on suppressed emotion being at the root of our physical and emotional issues, rather than bacteria and viruses. It is our blocked emotions which inform the cellular level where those bacteria and viruses reside - and so this is where we focus during a Journey process.

2) It works with whatever is inside you - it does not involve external intervention, pills or medication. It is a stand-alone technique, allowing you to take control of your life and emotions in any situation, at any time. Its starting point is that you already have everything you need in order to resolve your issues.

3) Rather than expressing emotions outwardly - or ignoring them and burying them inside - it involves simply feeling and naming an emotion, then going beyond it. Several healing modalities recommend the extreme expression of emotion as a solution for emotional and physical issues. But this can complicate or escalate difficulties and often damages the body. Other therapies, do a lot of talking about emotions, relive them, take them apart and analyse them. But we can get lost in ever more complex internal worlds, still without a practical solution or relief from our issue. In the Journey process you are not taken out by the emotion either internally or externally. Instead the aim is to move through the centre of the emotion, past it, to a deeper level where its energy is reclaimed and the emotion is completely dissolved. Thus we can successfully move on from our issue.

4) It bypasses the "mind" which often contributes to the suppression of our emotions. Other healing modalities do not offer this and are often based on Freudian, Jungian or psychoanalytic approaches which start with the mind and go no deeper.

How it works

Science is now showing that when you suppress emotion, your DNA can mutate, which potentially lays the basis for disease in your body.

A Journey process enables you to reverse the suppression of emotion thus avoiding that potential mutation of DNA. During the process, you allow yourself to feel blocked emotion you've been suppressing in a safe environment and investigate what lies at the core of it. This undermines the suppressed emotion, causing it to collapse and the emotion's energy then re-integrates into the body-mind. With the removal of the root of your issue, the issue itself can dissolve.

Issues you can resolve

Almost any issue can be the subject of a Journey process, except serious or advanced psychological disorders. A process can particularly help you if you wish to put down once and for all, emotional baggage that has been with you for years or to access hidden talents and potential you know you possess. It can also allow you to experience first-hand, the peace and bliss which underlie all existence and from which healing truly begins.

For example, you might use a Journey process to aid in resolving migraines or a fear of flying; heart disease or relationship issues; a sports injury or grief at the loss of a loved one; a fear of public speaking or rheumatoid arthritis. In all cases you will simply want to get to the bottom of a situation, way of being or physical illness which you are stuck in and want to be free of. Further examples include:

recurrent painful situations or experiences

recurrent emotions, eg. anger, fear, guilt, grief

family, spiritual and identity problems

depression, chronic fatigue

multiple sclerosis

insomnia, phobias, allergies

eating disorders, addictions

relationship and fertility issues

sexual trauma, criminal offences

career and abundance issues

skin problems

cysts, cancers and tumours

heart and respiratory disorders

problems with sight, hearing and movement

recurrent common illnesses, eg. cold, influenza

panic attacks

accidents, broken limbs and sports injuries

near death/out of body experiences

pain, reduced physical function
