JOURNEY PROCESS - CHILDREN (3 TO 12 YEARS)
A child can go for a one-on-one Journey process with a preferred Journey therapist or attend the Junior Journey (see the FAQs page on this website) in a workshop group for a day, with other children of like age.
In both cases, a child's Journey process usually takes between 20 and 40 minutes and is specially adapted for their age with the use of artwork, balloons, story-telling and play. Much time and attention is focused on making your child feel as comfortable and as safe as possible. Methods are always selected for a best fit with your child's personality and temperament. Eliciting a memory, the campfire and reprogramming the memory which occur during the adult Journey process still feature.
The child is guaranteed full confidentiality in relation to their issue and what happens during the Journey process. This is unless the Journey therapist has reason to fear for their safety, such as being subjected to physical or sexual attack. In this case, your Journey therapist is duty-bound by law to contact the police. Additionally the Journey therapist will make only general comments afterwards on how well the Journey process went to parents or significant adults, leaving the child to discuss what they wish.
